摘要：Visceral Leishmaniasis is a serious public health problem in poor countries and one of the priority endemic diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO). This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of patients with Visceral Leishmaniasis in Teresina-PI, according to sex, age and education, type of diagnosis and location. This is a documentary, census, quantitative, descriptive and retrospective epidemiological research. It was not necessary to send the project to the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). Cases of Visceral Leishmaniasis in Teresina-PI from 2013 to 2018 predominated in males, aged 20 to 39 years and 1 to 4 years old, with school level from 5th to 8th grade of elementary school, in the urban area, with greater use of parasitic diagnosis. Drawing a profile for the diseases studied is essential for the adoption of preventive measures and the early diagnosis of the disease and its complications, thus reducing the number of hospital admissions and the mortality rate from the disease.
