摘要:The objective was to evaluate the agronomic performance of purple lettuce cultivars grown under different types of soil cover from April to June 2021 in the Submédio do Vale do So Francisco. The experimental design used was a randomized block with three blocks, arranged in a 3 x 3 factorial scheme, with the first factor being the cultivars of purple lettuce (Creta, Mimosa roxa and Rubinela) and the second being the ground cover (no cover, mulching (black polyethylene) and elephant grass straw). Evaluations were performed weekly regarding plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves, and at 42 days after transplanting, shoot diameter, shoot and root fresh mass and shoot and root dry mass were also evaluated. Data were submitted to analysis of variance and means were compared by Tukey's test at 5% probability, using Agroestat and SISVAR software. During the weekly evaluations, the straw and mulching covers presented higher averages for plant height, with 20.90 and 20.75 cm, respectively, when compared to the treatment without cover and the cultivar Mimosa roxa presented the highest averages for all the evaluated characteristics. While in the agronomic analysis, the cultivar Creta, when cultivated with mulching, presented the largest diameter of shoot (17.82 mm). The use of different types of ground cover influenced the agronomic performance of purple lettuce plants. The cultivar Mimosa roxa showed greater development during the evaluated period.
