摘要:In 2016 some settlements in the Garut City area, located along the Cimanuk River, were affected by a flash flood. This disaster resulted in many residents relocating to other places that were located far from the city. This research was conducted in three residential relocation areas: Gadok Housing, Kopi Lombang Housing, and Cisereuh Housing. The purpose of this study is to determine the adaptation strategies for relocating communities. This research was conducted using mixed method techniques with descriptive quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. The results can be seen in the affected communities' adaptation strategies. The results showed that the relocated communities living in new settlements carried out an adaptation strategy such as adjustment and adaptation with reaction. Adaptation by adjustments is carried out by accepting the post-relocation situation and changing the job to another sector. Meanwhile, adaptation by reactions is carried out by making changes to the building's physical form, planting mixed gardens, or making pet cages in the yard. The relocating resident has less motivation to move to another shelter due to financial inability and comfortable feeling they had with the new settlement condition.
