摘要：The need for water, renewable electricity and protection against floods and droughts is considerable; water storage is a historical and natural way to contribute to this. Yet the pace of construction of new reservoirs is slower than the increase in needs. The ICOLD “Emerging Utilization of Reservoirs” committee has drawn up this observation and suggested ways to remedy it. One essential avenue is innovation. In addition to conventional works, it is possible to propose new options, driven by societal issues that are changing the game: falling prices of solar and wind energy, changes in public opinion regarding environmental issues, climate change: resource scarcity and natural disasters, changes in project financing methods, digitalization. This presentation offers an overview of new ideas, sometimes “wise”, sometimes provocative, but always with strong potential, and in fact almost always multi-purpose. Dams at sea, hydro-solar reservoirs, twin dams, reservoirs fed by flood pumping, biodiversity reservoirs, etc. These ideas, and others, could well fuel a new golden age for dams (in the broadest sense!) as the needs are so great.
