摘要:Hydropower worldwide meets many challenges: size of reservoirs and associated impacts, water resource management and resilience to climate change, dispatchability of power generation and interactions with intermittent renewable energies. In this context, hybridization of hydroelectric power plants with solar power plants seems to be a promising opportunity providing solutions. Through examples, the article explores the ins and outs of such a hybridization: at three time steps, annual, daily/hourly and minute. In particular, it illustrates the methodology for defining the optimum solar/hydro combination, according to a certain number of site-specific parameters: ecological flow, acceptable variations in downstream flow, level of service provided to the Grid (spinning reserve, impacts of clouds), shape of the daily load curve, consideration of other water uses, annual management objectives, etc.
