摘要:The article is devoted to the analysis of the productive activities of the Soimonov Dynasty representatives, Mikhail Fedorovich and Petr Alexandrovich, and their contribution to the development of mining and mining education in Russia in the second half of the 18th century. The Soimonov cousins held important positions in the administration of Russia, at the court of Catherine II; they worked both in the capital and in the provinces, and held senior positions. Mikhail Fedorovich was the organizer and founder of the Mining School, and also its first director (1773−1776 and 1796−1801). Petr Alexandrovich also headed the Mining School (1784−1793) and contributed a great deal to its development and prosperity. It should be noted that the biography of M.F. Soimonov is covered in sufficient detail in the scientific literature, but there is no single detailed scientific publication about P.A. Soimonov. This article fills this gap in the historical record. The article uses original and largely unique archival materials (for example, journals from the personal cabinet of Catherine II), memoir sources and published scientific literature.
