摘要:The purpose of this paper is to analyze how adjustment will proceed between the demand for and supply of academic economists who are employed by universities in Japan. First of all, we show that the age distribution of economists in 1978 has two peaks, but that those of university-teachers belonging to Departments of Science and Departments of Technology in 1977 have just one peak. Then we start our study to construct a hypothesis for explaining these phenomena, especially the former. Our analysis makes clear that there is such a tendency in the Japanese labor market for economists that the excess demand brings about the exess supply after about ten years, and the latter causes the former again ten years later.
