摘要:Ovarian cancer has emerged as one of the most common malignancies affecting women in India. It was also observed that malnutrition is a common and under-recognized problem among cancer patients. The present study was undertaken to evaluate and compare the nutritional status and body composition of ovarian cancer patients. A total of 145 newly diagnosed adult ovarian cancer patients and 290 apparently healthy adult women with a mean age of 43.69 (SD 8.95) years were studied. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated an altered body composition in terms of body fat and higher prevalence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) in cancer patients as compared with healthy women.
