摘要:Adolescence witnesses the beginning of menstruation. Present work is a cross-sectional study designed to take into consideration the menstrual-health status of school going adolescent girls. 295 adolescent girls aged 10-18 years, who volunteered for the study (as permitted by their parents), were interviewed about their perception and pattern of menstruation. Menarchal age ranged from 10-15 years, 12.2 ± 0.96 years being the mean menarchal age. Dysmenorrhea and menstrual irregularity were the most prevalent problems among adolescent females. Very few girls sought healthcare facilities and avenues when they experience menstrual health problems. Lack of physical and emotional support was common.
