摘要:Background: DBS provides a cost-effective solution for multiple cases by reducing procedures for collecting, storing, and transporting blood specimens in situations with inadequate infrastructure. The usage of DBS has evolved in field of genetics, immunology and also global health and disease surveillance programs and not just also an important tool in criminology. To systematically identify and evaluate the usage of dried blood spots for DNA extraction. Materials and methods: A comprehensive search was done using electronic data bases such as PubMed Central, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Google Scholar, and direct web search. The title scan was done to identify relevant articles, which were further evaluated for inclusion by reading the Results: Electronic database search identified a final of 5 studies were included based on the inclusion criteria to meet the research question. All the articles included in this review had evaluated the quality and quantity of DNA extracted from DBS using different innovative methods. Conclusion: The quality and quantity of DNA extracted using different methods from DBS are considered to be more reliable and can be used for small scale and large scale settings especially where the preservation, transportation, and shipping of whole blood are not possible.
