摘要：INTRODUCTION: Restorative dentistry is the most important in the field of dentistry. Various kinds of restorations are available to be used in restorative dentistry. Replacement is usually done as crowns which are not considered as an aspect of the restorative dentistry. Main aim of the study is to find out the prevalence of the different types of restorative materials in Class II cavity among different age and gender involving the highest prevalence used in the field of restorations. METHODOLOGY: The study is done in DIAS software of the Saveetha Dental College, Chennai. The DIAS consists of various information about the patients along with the information about various anomalies associated with the tooth. The prevalence is calculated from the retrieved data obtained from the DIAS, exported to sheets and comparison analysis is done with the help of SPSS software. RESULTS: The graphs represented the prevalence of class II cavity with gender and age groups of the patients.Most of the females are concerned with the aesthetics as most of them went for tooth coloured restoration in comparison with the males who did not consider aesthetics as an important factor as they did not have any particular fashion in the restorative material. Mostly adult restorations are considered as the child restoration database was meagre for a sample size, so they are not categorised into the analysis. CONCLUSION: Class II cavity restorations are common in male and female but prevalence are more in the 40 -50 year age group of male however Women mostly prefer aesthetic restorations hence they go for tooth coloured restorations like composite resin based restorative materials, LCR, ceramics, Males are not very much concerned about their esthetics.
