摘要：The term "edentulous space" refers to a space in the mouth where teeth are missing (or have often been missing). A dental implant is a medical device used to replace lost teeth. The success or failure of implants is influenced by the health of the patient, medications that stimulate osseointegration, and the health of the tissues in the mouth. In terms of controlling the edentulous space, implants provide several benefits over dentures. The aim of this study is to assess the age and sex in management of edentulous space with implant. Materials and methods: The data related to the study parameters were obtained from patients who reported to the Outpatient Department in Saveetha Dental College, Chennai from June 2020- March 2021. DIAS consists of complete details about patients. Extraction of patients' details like age and gender were done by using DIAS software. The details were entered in Excel and then transferred to SPSS software. Statistical analysis was done and graphs were prepared using SPSS software. Results and Discussion: In 20 to 40 years of age 11.54% patients underwent implant placement on both arch, 7.69% patients underwent implant placement on upper arch and 3.85% patient on lower arch. In 40 to 60 years of age 34.62% patients had implant placement in both arch, 19.23% patients in upper arch and 27.69% in lower arch. Whereas in age range above 60 years 11.54% had in both arch and 3.85% patient in lower arch (chi square test- 1.888; p value-0.269(>0.05),not statistically significant). Among the female patients 34.62% underwent implant treatment on both arches , 11.54% on upper arch and 7.69% on lower arch. Among the male patients 23.08% underwent implant placement on both arch 15.38% on upper arch and 7.69% on lower arch (chi square test- 0.593; p value-0.151(>0.05) ,not statistically significant). From the present study it has been inferred that the majority of the population who underwent implant placement were female and at the age of 40 to 50 years. Conclusion: The use of dental implants is age-dependent, gender dependent, and the form and scale of the implant appear to be closely linked to the implant's location.
