  • 摘要:Class 5 restoration is a common clinical practice nowadays and opinions on class 5 restoration vary among dentists. The etiology of cervical lesions are multifactorial, making diagnosis and treatment difficult. Perceptions on restoration have changed a lot over the years among both dentists and patients. Survey on class 5 restoration helps knowing the knowledge of students on restoration methods. Aim : The aim of the study is to analyse the knowledge, awareness and practice of class 5 restoration among undergraduate dental students. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross sectional survey was conducted in the month of february 2021 among 100 undergraduate dental students through a self administered questionnaire. The responses were collected, tabulated in excel sheet and analysed using SPSS software. Chi square test was used to analyze the level of knowledge on class 5 caries among students and level of significance was set at P< 0.05. Results: The study included 67 third years and 33 final year students. 88% of the students think that rubber dam isolation significantly improves the quality of cervical restoration. Majority of about 83% of students replied that all the reasons like fracture, secondary caries, and marginal deficiency are responsible for failure of cervical restoration. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study we conclude that both the third and final year students have adequate knowledge on the indications, materials used and factors that can contribute to the success of a class 5 restoration.
