摘要：Background: The oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) scale developed originally in english has been translated from time to time in a different language from that i was going to translate in tamil language. Methods and Methodology: This was a descriptive cross sectional study containing a sample size of 50, and it was taken in 60years old and above which was taken in an outpatient in a private dental institution. Participants were selected through a convincing sampling method. The english version of the OHIP-14 was translated into tamil and patients are responded by tamil version of the questionnaire.The frequency and percentage where calculated and the data is being analysed by using Chi square analysis. The Chi square analysis was done by using the IBM SPSS software version 23. Result: The finding indicates that 62% of patients had to interrupt meals because of problems with their teeth, mouth. 50% of patients had been totally unable to function because of problems with teeth, mouth or dentures. Conclusion: In summary, Translation and validation of tamil version of geriatrics patients about OHIP-14 is good and in further studies, some measures can be taken to treat the emergency patient with low risk.
