  • 摘要:Introduction: Based on comprehensive computerized literature search supplemented by a specific manual search of literature, present article focuses on concrete aspect of application of EMG for evaluation of masticatory muscle timing activity and symmetry in general and of masseter and temporalis muscles in particular and to analysis age, gender and masticatory muscle timing activity Materials and methods:A total of 20 patients were included in the present study. Demographic details like age, gender, masticatory muscle timing activity, symmetry (temporalis, masseter) of all patients were recorded. All the data was entered on the excel sheet. Data was analyzed by the SPSS software version. Results:Out of 20 patients, 55% were females, 45% were males. From this study we observed that 35% (10-15) & (16-20) years of age were the most prevalent age where they underwent EMG diagnosis. From this study we observed that most common muscle timing activities were 25% [M(L) - T(R), M(R) - T(L)]. Conclusion:Electromyography analysis enables the evaluation of the performance of masticatory muscle activity in clinical conditions. The temporalis muscle activity symmetry was good at 75% and during clenching masseter muscle was the initial firing muscle in both genders but differed in the sides.
