摘要：Background and aim : A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface protein. Several vaccines have been approved against Covid 19 virus and are distributed globally in different regions. However, general community knowledge, attitude and practice towards Covid 19 vaccination is poorly understood. Thus, the study aimed to investigate community knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19 vaccinations among outpatients in a private dental institution. Methodology : A self administered questionnaire comprising ten questions on the knowledge, attitude and practice towards Covid - 19 vaccination was prepared. This survey was conducted among the outpatients visiting a private dental institution. The data obtained from the survey were tabulated and analysed using SPSS software (version 25). A total of 104 outpatients who visited a private dental institution took up the survey. This data was taken up for analysis. Frequency and percentage was used for description, Chi square test was done as inferential statistics. Results: Majority of the participants in the present study were willing to take up the vaccine against covid 19 (88%). However many of the participants did not have much knowledge on vaccines for patients recovered from Covid 19. Majority of the participants were willing to take up the vaccine irrespective of the place of manufacture. (40%) Conclusion: From this study we can conclude that the majority were willing to take up vaccine against Covid 19. However there isn’t thorough knowledge on vaccination among the general population. Hence, more awareness must be created among the general public on Vaccination for Covid 19.
