摘要:Background and Hypertension is one of the main leading causes of death in the world, which can lead to stroke, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. In this study, the influence of ginger rhizome, formulated in a capsule dosage form, was evaluated on the blood pressure and lipid profiles in patients with pre-hypertension. Material and methods: Ginger rhizome was formulated in capsule dosage form, and drug content was standardized based on gingerol. Each capsule contained 26 mg of the active ingredient. In a double-blind, randomized clinical trial, 82 pre-hypertension patients, received a ginger capsule (n = 41) or placebo (n = 41) every day for 56 days. Blood pressures were measured after the fourth and eighth weeks, and blood samples were collected to evaluate the FBS, TG, HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, and nitric oxide (NO) levels. Results: The consumption of ginger capsules resulted in a significant decrease in the plasma concentrations of TG, LDL, and total cholesterol. It did not affect the plasma HDL, whereas NO concentrations were elevated. It also causes lowering systolic, diastolic, and mean atrial blood pressures. Conclusion: Due to the significant role of ginger capsules in reducing blood pressure and lipid-related metabolites, it can be considered a supplement in pre-hypertensive patients' medication regimens.
