摘要:Dental caries (decay) is a worldwide public health issue, particularly among children. In both developing and developed countries, early childhood caries (ECC) is a severe public health issue. ECC can start early in life, progresses quickly in high-risk individuals, and sometimes goes untreated. ECC is a particularly dangerous type of caries that appears soon after dental eruption, develops on smooth surfaces, quickly spreads, and has a long-term negative effect on the molars. Children who develop caries as babies or toddlers have a significantly higher risk of developing caries later in life in both their primary and permanent teeth.
