摘要：Background: As tobacco and its related products are the leading cause of mortality in our country, it is important to educate the dental students and practitioners of the various methods of habit cessation one of which is Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). This study aimed at assessing and comparing the knowledge, attitude, and practice of institutionally attached undergraduate, postgraduate students and other dental practitioners towards NRT. Materials and methods: This was a survey based and conducted on an online form,google form. It was taken by 150 dental students both undergraduates and postgraduates and dental practitioners. The questionnaire was framed to evaluate the knowledge, attitude and practice on Nicotine Replacement Therapy among the dental students and practitioners. Descriptive statistics were expressed by means of frequency and percentage. Chi Square test was used to determine the association between the variables. P value of less than 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: 34% of the study population had previously attended tobacco cessation workshops. About 85% of the participants were willing to learn about smoking cessation counselling/ NRT. Conclusion: It is important to educate the fellow dental students and dentists on the importance of these counselling sessions and to motivate them to use these in their regular clinical practice.
