摘要:Introduction: Piper longum (long pepper) cultivated along the borders of India and Indonesia, It is widely used as a spice and is also known for its medicinal value in terms of relieving muscular pain and inflammation in ancient Ayurvedic medicine. The aim of the study is to analyse the antioxidant and anti inflammatory activity of Piper longum and nano zinc oxide based chitosan nano composite. Materials and Methods: The Piper longum fruit is purchased and it is cleaned, dried and powdered into fine granules. 0.5 g of Piper longum powder is weighed separately and taken. DPPH assay was used to test the antioxidant activity of biogenic synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles. The anti-inflammatory activity for Solanum torvum gel was tested by the following convention proposed by Muzushima and Kabayashi with specific alterations. Results: The antioxidant activity is being calculated, at 10 microliter standard value shows 76.56% of inhibition and zinc oxide nanoparticles show 60% of inhibition, at 20 microliter. The anti inflammatory activity is being calculated, at 10 microliter standard value shows 47% of inhibition and zinc oxide nanoparticles shows 34% of inhibition, at 20 microliter. Conclusion: Our research shows that the piper longum has been utilised in ancient Ayurvedic medicine for its therapeutic benefits in terms of treating muscle discomfort and inflammation.
