摘要：The Novel House of cards, by Sudha Murty is Published in 2013. The protagonist of the novel is Mridula. The aim of this project is to explore the theme of materialism which is to Democition of family and human relationships. The author has describe that modern people who were give more importance money and material things. The Materialism leads the people are in wrong action such a exploitation and having extramarital affair. Sanjay is a husband of Mridula. They both of them lead a happy life and sufficient money in their marriage life. Sanjay starts a private home of nursing and then he starts to earn more money. They behaviour has changed lot after he earn more money. He gives the first preference to the money and the materialistic things were rather than to his wife. He becomes to ambitious man and he hides a money without knowing to hs wife. Mridula were know about the hided money. After all that she came to know a true love on sanjay is broken and it leads to destruction of their family life. Author clearly portrays the mid set of modern people in this novel.
