摘要:Stevia is used as a low caloric sweetener, a dietary supplement derived from leaves of Stevia rebaudiana which belongs to the family Asteraceae. Ficus benghalensis belongs to the family Moraceae which acts as a strong antioxidant and immunomodulatory in function. Silver nanoparticles have high antimicrobial activity even at lower concentrations than ethanol as a good alternative and in minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and lower concentration, it kills the majority of microorganisms. With Stevia and Ficus benghalensis, extract was prepared after boiling and filtration. 1 millimole of silver nitrate is added to a conical flask containing 90 ml of distilled water with addition of 10ml of extract. After centrifuging, mouthwash was prepared by adding 10ml of distilled water in the eppendorf tube, then 0.3 g of sucrose was added followed by 0.001g sodium benzoate and 0.01g of sodium lauryl sulphate. The agar well diffusion method was used for determining antimicrobial activity of mouthwash. The mouthwash concentration at 50μl and 100μl showed a higher zone of inhibition against C.albicans than the antibiotic used. For E.faecalis, the zone of inhibition was very less for mouthwash than the antibiotic. For Staphylococcus aureus, the mouthwash showed less zone of inhibition than the antibiotic. It is proved that this mouthwash can be used against C.albicans infection (candidiasis) and also against S.mutans for controlling and prevention of caries.
