  • 摘要:Background: In the dental field, the use of fully adjustable articulators is very limited as it is a highly sophisticated instrument used for replication of mandibular movements. It reproduces more than one type of movement and has centric relationship, protrusive, retrusive movements and right lateral maxillomandibular relationships. It has a wide range of movements which helps in following a patient's border movements and greater the accuracy in reproducing mandibular movements, lesser the occlusal corrections will be required. Each pantograph is the graphic effect of breaking down three-dimensional motion into its constituent parts in three dimensions. The initial motion is reproduced by simultaneously reproducing all three pantographs. To create and check the awareness on management of fully adjustable articulators among dental students. Materials and methods: The study was done as an online setting, the responses were obtained from 114 dental college students from the Chennai sub population. A self structured questionnaire comprising about 10 questions and circulated as a link to the participants. The responses were exported to google sheets and data was retrieved and analysed in SPSS software version 26. The results were obtained from SPSS software. Results: From the results analysed, the majority of dental students as male participants (55.26%) took part in the survey. The dental students know that the fully adjustable articulators provide accurate replication of jaw relationships, where 84.21% are aware of the fact. They are aware (82.46%) that the intercondylar distance was completely adjustable in fully adjustable articulators. Nearly 85.09% of the dental students agreed that fully adjustable articulators could work in absence of patients and provide media of working without interference of tongue, lips, saliva, etc. Male participants (43.86%) are more aware of the practice than female participants (30.70%). Chi square test was done and the association was found to be not statistically significant with p-value 0.191. It is evident from the results, that the male participants are more aware about the management of fully adjustable articulators than female participants. Conclusion: It is found that there is immense awareness of the management of fully adjustable articulators but more dental practitioners should really put it to use. Among the samples taken for study it is found that males are more aware than female participants.
