摘要:Introduction:A good oral hygiene is mandatory which can be compromised among physically challenged individuals. Upper limb disability may affect the individual’s ability to manage effective oral hygiene. Poor oral hygiene and periodontal disease is reported in a sample paraplegics. To find whether oral hygiene practice in patients with upper limbs handicaps. Materials and methods: The study population comprised people with upper limb handicaps. The survey instrument employed was a self-administrated questionnaire comprising 10 multiple choice questions. The questionnaire assessed by the medical facilities available in management of oral hygiene dependent on their acknowledgement. Results: 85% stated that special equipment is required for oral hygiene maintenance. 76% think preventive measures are available to prevent decay .The study result shows there is a difficulty in maintaining proper oral hygiene due to lack of awareness on specialized equipment available for disabled persons. Conclusion: The study shows the awareness among handicaps about their oral hygiene practices is adequate and there is a requirement to create awareness about specialized equipment for physically disabled persons.
