摘要:Motives are the drivers of an individual’s behavior in different situations, so understanding these motives and how to use them helps us to control and control behavior. Thus, studying the subject of motives is one of the basic studies for every educator working with athletes. By understanding the motives of athletes, the coach can direct their behavior, including Sports activity is one of the types of behavior, so it is affected by different motives, hence the “importance of studying motives in sports activity to elevate the athlete to the highest levels. The study aims at identifying the degree of mental motivation of the study sample, its relationship to the performance of the gradable scoring skill in basketball for students. The study has set goals to find out whether there is a statistically significant correlation between mental motivation and its relationship to the performance of the skill of gradable scoring in basketball for students. The study has adopted the descriptive approach for its suitability to the research problem on a sample of students of the second year at Al-Maarif University College - Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for the academic year 2021-2022, numbering (45) students from 1/3/2022 to 1/4/2022. Using the appropriate statistical methods to extract the results, and in light of the results, the researchers reached conclusions of There is a significant correlation between students who possess mental motivation and the performance of the skill of gradable scoring. Some recommendations are presented such as the necessity of conducting periodic tests for learners in mental motivation to try to raise their level of motivation and conducting similar studies on other games and other skills.
