摘要:Introduction:The introduction of the ringless casting technique in removable and fixed prosthodontics attempts to solve the problem of anisotropic investment expansion. The ring-less casting investment system used for dental casting, but its use in dentistry needs to be improved and there is not adequate scientific data to support its use for fixed dental prosthesis or implant retained fixed dental prosthesis. Aim:The aim of the present study was to assess the awareness of ringless casting among dental students. Materials and methods:250 participants were involved in the study. Self-administered questionnaire of close-ended questions was prepared and it was distributed among undergraduate dental college students through online survey forms “GOOGLE FORMS”. SPSS software was used to analyse the results. Chi square test was used as inferential statistics. Results: In the present study, 73.6% were aware of investing procedures. About 72% were aware of types of casting. It is interesting to see that 68% were aware of ringless casting Regarding the knowledge of investment materials used for ringless systems, 22% of participants responded to gypsum bonded investment and 78% of the participants responded to phosphate bonded investment. About 73.6% of the participants responded to ringless casting and 26.4% of the participants responded to casting ring as the error less technique. Conclusion: The overall awareness of ringless casting tends to be moderate among undergraduate dental students. From the present study, the fourth year undergraduate dental students had good awareness compared to other undergraduate dental students.
