摘要：Osteoarthritis (OA) is an inflammatory condition that affects almost all the functions of the joint which undergoes physiological changes like inflammation, pain and functional limitation. Among various types and regions of osteoarthritis being common in occurrence, Knee joint osteoarthritis is the commonest as it is the most widely torn joint due to wear and tear phenomenon. Knee joint osteoarthritis not only limits the movement, weight bearing activities and transfers but also the pain induced by this causes patients to often get restricted to their bed and in severe cases total deformity with loss of function. There are various treatments available for knee osteoarthritis but none specify the effect of treatment modifications in Maitland mobilization and ultrasound therapy in such cases. This was a randomized comparative trial with two groups of treatment. Group A consisted of Maitland with ultrasound therapy and Group B consisting of therapeutic exercises and ultrasound therapy. There were not many modifications in Ultrasound therapy according to literatures but there were many modifications available for application of Maitland’s mobilization in cases of knee osteoarthritis. The treatment was administered for continuously 15 days (except weekends) and in totals 60 patients. The outcomes assessed were VAS scale, ROM measured from Goniometer and WOMAC scale. The pre and post values of all the outcomes showed significant changes in pre and post outcome values of both the groups but there was no significant difference between the post values of the groups.
