摘要:Language barrier is a common phenomenon faced by the majority of the student community. It accounts for a significant role in the learning environment of the student. Language barriers hold a great impact in the communication process especially in educational fields where communication is deemed important. This study aims at finding out the shortcomings faced, study attitude, perception and learning capabilities of North Indian Dental students in understanding the Tamil language.The research conducted was done using a random sampling method. A questionnaire including various questions probing about the attitude and the various learning methods used was distributed through an online survey link to the study population including about 250 North Indian Dental students of age roughly 17-23 years of age. The survey consists of a set of 10 questions and the study population was requested to answer. The data was collected and statistically analysed. Majority of the study population, of about 54% answered negatively when asked if they were interested in learning the Tamil language. Conclusion: This study concludes that a more positive attitude could be shown by the North Indian Dental students in order to understand Tamil and thereby enhance the patient experience.
