摘要:This paper investigates the Migration and its consequences in Kate Grenville's novel The Secret River. The novel The Secret River was written by Kate Grenville who is the Australian Author. The Author dedicated this novel to Aboriginal people of Australia: Past, Present and Future. The Secret River was published in 2005 and it is a Historical Novel which nominated for Booker prize. This novel shows the scenario that what might happened if Europeans colonized land which already inhabited by aboriginal people. This Novel The Secret River has adopted for stage by Andrew Bovell and it is presented by Sydney Theatre Company on January 2013.It is also included in the Edinburgh International Festival in August 2019. This novel shows the clear picture about How a convict settler Thornhill become a owner of a piece of land in Australia which named as Thornhill's point. This novel has various themes such as social order, Hierarchy, class, Migration, Colonialism and violence. The theme of Migration shows how Thornhill transported to Australia with his family. This book has compared to “The chant of Jimmie Black Smith” written by Thomas Keneally and “True History of the Kelly Gang”written by Peter Carey for its style and historical theme.
