摘要:INTRODUCTION Amyloidosis was probably first noted by Bonet, who documented a patient with liver abscess whose spleen contained immersible white stones. A number of heterogeneous syndromes characterized by protein deposits in the form of insoluble fibrils in the patient’s tissues Is termed as systemic amyloidosis .There are several types with varying symptoms.Treatment is accelerated towards decreasing the amount of the involved protein.This may sometimes be achieved by determining and treating the underlying cause. AIM To evaluate the awareness of treatment protocols with amyloidosis patients among dental students. MATERIALS AND METHOD An online survey was conducted with a self-structured questionnaire among Dental students with a sample size of 100. The questionnaire was designed using the online survey platform “google forms” and the questionnaire was circulated and responses were collected. A Chi-square test was done with SPSS software version 2.0 and values were analyzed. Bar diagrams and Pie charts were used for output variable representation. RESULTS The present study reveals the awareness of the study participants on treatment protocols on amyloidosis. 78.79% of the participants were aware of clinical symptoms while the remaining 21.21% were not aware. The results depict the awareness level of participants when they are questioned about what is the best treatment for amyloidosis 54%were answered as chemotherapy and the remaining 46%were answered as Transplantation. The awareness level of participants when they are questioned about what is the life expectancy of someone with ATTR from diagnosis, 34%were answered as 2-6 year, 41%were answered as 7-9 years and the remaining 25%were answered as 1-5 years. CONCLUSION From this study, it is evident that the majority of participants reported positively. The study concluded that most of them are aware of treatment protocols with amyloidosis patients among dental students.
