摘要：Dental plaque plays an important role in the aetiology of dental caries, gingivitis and its progression to periodontitis. Mechanical cleaning is recognised to be potentially useful in controlling supra gingival plaque, but expecting that each individual will maintain a good standard of oral hygiene seems to be beyond most people’s capabilities. The study aim to find the awareness of various brushing methods among the rural population. Materials and methods: The data of this original research (survey) consisted of 100 college students. A simple and randomized online survey was carried out to investigate the Preference in the use of video aids for learning. 15 Self-administered questionnaires were framed and distributed to the participants through an Online google forms link. The data collected in google sheets were transferred to SPSS software. The data were validated and verified by the primary investigator and guide. Descriptive statistics were carried out. Chi-square analysis was done. The results were statistically analysed. Result: The study shows 80% brushing their teeth. 82% use a toothbrush for brushing their teeth. 59% use horizontal movement for brushing their teeth. Conclusion: This study showed that horizontal technique was the most effective brushing technique followed by circular scrub technique. Most of the rural population use a toothbrush for brushing. The study reveals that the remarkable efforts made in public health education programmes, individual oral hygiene consultations in dental practice and in mass media still need to be strengthened.
