摘要：INTRODUCTION: A die is a specific machine tool used in manufacturing industries to form material to a desired shape. Like molds, dies are generally customized to the material they are used to create. Die casting is a metal projecting interaction that is portrayed by compelling liquid metal under high pressure into a mould cavity. The mould cavity is made utilizing two solidified instrument steel dies which have been machined into shape and work to an infusion mould during the cycle. AIM: The aim of the present study is to create awareness about die pins among dental students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Self-administered questionnaire of close ended questions was prepared and it was distributed among dental students from February to March 2021 through the online survey “google forms”. Data was analysed with SPSS version (22.0). Descriptive statistics as percent were calculated to summarise qualitative data. RESULTS: The questionnaire was distributed among 200 participants. 71.2% of the participants' had adequate knowledge about FPD laboratory procedure. 79.2% of the participants were aware of the word die in prosthodontics. 61.3% of the participants agreed that Die pin is a terminology used related to FPD, 13.2% of the participants agreed that Die pin is a terminology used related to RPD, while 19.8% of the participants agreed that Die pin is a terminology used related to Complete denture. CONCLUSION: Majority of participants had good knowledge about die pins. Thus, Die pins are important in the dental field. It is recommended that dental students should be more exposed and motivated about the principles of die pins during their dental education in order to be prepared for future practice of utilizing die pins.
