摘要:Cushing's syndrome is caused by repeated and unsuitable exposure to elevated levels of circulating free glucocorticoids. When the presentation is complex, the diagnosis is normally simple. Excess glucocorticoids change body composition and metabolic profile, causing fat maldistribution, muscle wasting, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypercoagulability, and an increase in the risk of osteoporosis, hypertension. Materials and methods: A well structured questionnaire comprising 13 questions covering socio-demographic information, knowledge, attitude, perception was framed, administered and circulated to college students through an online survey link. The sample size was 100 undergraduate students and postgraduate students. The questions were carefully studied and the corresponding answers were marked by the participants. The data was collected and statistically analysed. Correlation analysis was done using the spss software version 23. The level of significance was estimated using the pearson and chi square test where the p value is less than 0.05. Results: The survey showed that the awareness of treatment protocols for cushing syndrome gave results as 49% of the population were between the age groups of 20-25 years, 32% of the population of between the age group of 25-30 years and the rest for about 30 years. Among the total population 67% were females and 33% were males. 46% were final year students, 28% were interns, 17% were third year students and the rest were PG. Among the total population 82% were aware of Cushing syndrome. Conclusion: In conclusion, we examined the awareness about the treatment protocols, causes, complications of cushing syndrome, this should help guide dental students to treat patients with hypercortisolism.
