摘要:BACKGROUND: Stevia is a natural and healthy sweetener that has grown in popularity as a substitute for sugar and artificial sweeteners in human diets and food production. The aim of this study is to access if nano zinc oxide based chitosan nano composite green preparation has antimicrobial activity MATERIALS AND METHODS: The stevia and ficus benghalacus extract of about 1g stevia and 1g ficus were weighed and then dissolved in 100 ml of distilled water. Then the solution is boiled for about 5 minutes at a temperature of about 60-80 degree celsius and then allowed to cool down followed by filtration of the extract. Zinc oxide solution was prepared by dissolving 0.574g of zinc sulphate in 80 ML of distilled water followed by 20 ML of plant extract and 10 ml of zinc sulphate and mixed with 80 ML of distilled water and then the mixture was allowed to mix in a shaker. Antimicrobial activity was done against the strain of S. aureus, S. mutans, E. faecalis. Muller Hinton agar was utilised for this activity to determine the zone of inhibition different concentrations were loaded in the plates and incubated for 24 hrs 37 degree celsius after the incubation time the zone of innovation was measured . Antifungal activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles was done against the strain Candida Albicans. Sabourauds Dextrose Agar was used to prepare the medium; the plates were incubated at 28°C for 48 to 72 hours and after the incubation time the zone of inhibition was measured RESULT AND DISCUSSION: Zinc oxide based chitosan nanoparticle exhibit significant anti microbial activity. Candida Albicans showed the highest zone of inhibition and the antimicrobial activity increased with the increase in concentration. CONCLUSION: The research concludes that zinc oxide based chitosan nanocomposite green preparation showed a good antimicrobial activity against Candida albicans with the highest zone of inhibition when compared with the standard. The zone of inhibition increased with the increase in concentration.
