摘要:This research aspires to identify the skills of Lateral Thinking and their relationship to mental flexibility among the scientific fifth-level biology students in mathematics.The research Population was from all students of the fifth year of middle school, the biological branch, in the schools of the General Directorate of Al-Qadisiyah Education of the governorate center only and for the day study for the academic year (2021-2022) with a sample of (400) students distributed among the schools of the center. For collecting data for the research, a Lateral Thinking skills test was built: its final form was composed of (28) items of the subjective and essay type. The mental flexibility scale`s final form was composed of (36) items with two dimensions: adaptive mental flexibility, (18) items, and spontaneous mental flexibility, (18) items. The appropriate statistical analyzes were conducted and the psychometric properties of both the test and the scale were confirmed. The results indicated the existence of a direct correlation at the significance level of (0.05) between the skills of Lateral Thinking and mental flexibility among the scientific fifth-level biology students.
