摘要:This study is aimed to determine the cephalometric association of the maxillary sinus measurements (height and/or length) to the gender of a population of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts in Gujarat. Method: A Retrospective study was conducted using a lateral cephalogram of 36 subjects (20 males, 16 females) included in the study with selection criteria. The average measurements of the height and/or length of the maxillary sinus were calculated in all age and gender groups. Result: The result of the study showed a statistically significant relation in height of the maxillary sinus with the male gender. No significant relationship between the lengthof the maxillary sinus in the male and female subjects was seen. Conclusion: In this study it shows the strong correlation between male gender with the height of the maxillary sinus, determining it as an effective tool for gender determination in radiology and forensic anthropology in any investigation or mass disaster cases.
