摘要：Since the idea of software re use appeared in 1968, software reuse has become a software en gineering discipline . Software reuse is one of the main techniques used to enhan ce the productivity of software development, which it helps re ducing the time , effort, and cost of devel oping software systems, and enhances thequali ty of software produ cts. However, software reu se re quires un de rstan ding, modifying, adapting and testin g processes in order to be performe dcorre ctiy and efficiently. This study aims to analyze and discuss the process of software reuse , identify its elemen ts, sources and usages. The alternatives of acqui ring and using software assetsei ther normal or reusable asse tsare di scussed. As a result of this study, fourmain methods are propose din order to use the concept of re use in the software de vel opmen tprocess. The semethods are proposed base d on the source of software asse ts regardless the types of software assets and theiu sages.
