摘要:The major aim of this study was to determine the effect of teacher motivation on teacher performance at secondary level. The effect of gender and school locality (urban/rural) on teachers’ motivation and performance was also assessed. The study design was causalcomparative. Teacher performance was assessed through survey and observation methods. The study sample was 1800 secondary school teachers. For observation, one hundred teachers were randomly selected from the entire sample of the study. Teacher motivation scale (TMS) was developed to assess teachers’ motivation. While teacher performance was assessed through a self-developed teacher performance evaluation scale (TPES) and teacher performance observation form (TPOF). Linear regression analysis, Multivariate analysis of variance and Chi-square test for independence were used as data analysis techniques. The results proved that teacher motivation has a significant effect on teacher performance. Motivation and performance levels of female teachers were higher than male teachers. Urban and rural teachers have same motivation level. Rural teachers’ performance level was higher than urban teachers.
