摘要:Prolonging the network lifetime and balancing the energy consumption among the nodes is a major constraint in Wireless Sensor Network cluster based protocols. Connected Dominant Set (CDS) is an efficient method for prolonging the network lifetime and reducing the energy consumption among the sensor nodes. In existing CDS clustering algorithms, the nodes nearer to the Base Station (BS) die due to depletion of energy which is known as hot sport problem. Due to this, the Heads (CH) are re-elected periodically. The frequent re-election of Cluster Head consumes some more energy. In order to avoid the hot spot issue and minimize the frequent re-election of Cluster Head, we propose MinD-CDS unequal clustering algorithm. MinD-CDS increases the number of nodes nearer to the Base Station to avoid hot spot issue and re-elect the Cluster Head based on predefined energy level for each Cluster Head. The proposed algorithm is implemented using NS2 and compared with existing algorithm E-MCDS. The results show that the proposed algorithm balances energy consumption and prolonging the network lifetime efficiently compared to E-MCDS.
