摘要:Quality education is the need of the day to cope with the challenges of changing era. In this era of change, teachers are considered to play a vital role. This study was designed to find out teachers’ expectations and realities of teaching profession and to find out the gap between expectations and realities. Sample of the study was consisted of 400 newly appointed teachers at schools. The sample was randomly selected from ten districts of Punjab, Pakistan. Self- developed questionnaires on expectations and realities were used to collect data. This study was longitudinal in nature. Therefore, data were collected at two different time intervals of three to six months. Findings indicated that there is a significant gap between expectations and realities of newly appointed teachers. This gap is needed to be filled to fulfill the criteria of quality education.
