摘要:According to studies, the Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) is the most likely concept to assist manufacturers in remaining competitive in the market. RMS is a complex class of manufacturing systems, which necessitates a thorough understanding of process planning and scheduling to produce efficiently, and is, therefore, difficult to understand by practitioners. Besides their interest, RMS is not developed and is well known in the industry. On the other hand, serious games were an effective learning tool for engineers to make sensible, practical decisions by combining knowledge and skill acquisition. This research aims to design the first steps of creating a serious game that would improve understanding of RMS by introducing its core characteristics. This game would require the player to determine the optimum upgrade for a manufacturing system by reconfiguring the system's elements. The preliminary model generated in this study will include system elements that describe the core characteristics of RMS and how they are implemented in the serious game.
