摘要:Introduction: Vocational and Technological Education has always pervaded the educational scenario of High School, at times emerging as mandatory, sometimes optional, subsequent, and, more recently, in an integrated way. Objective: One of this work’s goals is to analyze such a context and how policies for High School have been constituted. Furthermore, resorting to regional authors such as Araújo and also Carls, I present in this research the context of the construction of the Instituto Federal do Pará (IFPA) – Breves campus on Marajó Island. Contextualizing this territory is fundamental for the proposal that is designed here. Methodology: The methodology implemented in this work was field research, as well as experiences I lived during my time in Breves town. Results and Conclusion: Finally, this work is intended to show that IFPA, despite its many difficulties, has established itself within the territory of Marajó forests through a democratic construction based on quality public education in a region marked by the scarcity of opportunities.
