摘要:Aging is correlated with several clinical conditions, one of which is fragility, which is represented by a reduction in the functionality of body systems and by a greater predisposition to negative outcomes in the face of environmental factors, internal and lifestyle-related stressors. Objective: To analyze the relationship between food and anthropometry with the frailty syndrome in the elderly in a community in the interior of Ceará. Methodology: Research participants answered a questionnaire, performed hand grip and gait speed tests. A total of 48 elderly people participated in the study. Data were analyzed by applying ANOVA and Fisher's Exact statistical tests. Results: The findings revealed a high prevalence of frailty and pre-frailty, predominantly in females and in older age. Regarding the physical tests for the assessment of frailty syndrome, anthropometric indicators and food consumption parameters, some had a significant correlation with the syndrome. Conclusion: In view of the above, the largest number of elderly people in the condition of pre-frailty was observed, thus generating reflections on the prevention of the syndrome, so that the elderly do not advance to the frailty condition, aiming to delay the functional decline and provide better quality of life.
