  • 摘要:As a preliminary study on the polarography of gelatin-copper complex, the effect of gelatin on the polarograpy of thallous ions which have little tendency for complex formation, was examined. Adsorption of gelatin to the mercury drop and viscosity increase at high gelatin concentration caused some reduction in the wave height.Polarography of copper ion in the unbuffered solution containing gelatin shows that copper ions are bound to the carboxyl groups in the gelatin. The association constants of gelatin-copper complex at different gelatin concentrations and (pH 5.5 and pH 5.9) calculated by using Scatchard's equation are in good agreement (log=3.3-3.5, I=0.1).Maximum possible number of bound copper ions determined from Klotz's equation is much smaller than number of carboxyl groups in the gelatin.
