摘要：In the present paper, José Morais is praised for his great achievements in several fields of language processing, in particular in reading. Furthermore, his views or the role of syllables, consonants and vowels are reviewed It is obvious that it is unfair to classify José Morais as belonging to a narrow academic discipline. He has shown to be an intellectual who is interested in social matters, arts and science. We thank him for his contributions.
