摘要：Recently, modern information access systems such as gopher, wais and WWW (World Wide Web) have become more common in the Internet. However, few university libraries are incorporating these new systems in Japan. This paper describes the design and implementation of Internet information services at Chiba University Library (CULTS). CULIS is designed to provide information by multiple means depending on the user's accessibility. These include anonymous log-in service, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) menu with highend user interface and gopher client menu. The system also provides entries to other gopher servers throughout the world as well as to the original server functions. OPAC on WWW and the Library User's Guide marked up in HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) are offered by the WWW server of CULTS. CULTS is implemented on a unix workstation and is expected work 24 hours a day. The workstation is installed separately from the computer for business use in the library.
