摘要：Hospital libraries have an improved cooperation system and demand the support of the exchange literature by the national system. The Foundation for Promotion of Medical Training (PMET) was established in 1995. A medical information retrieval system is one of their projects and includes following services: 1. Search system for medical articles based on OVID (MEDLINE and Core Biomedical Collection). 2. Database of computer graphics of the human body. Luckily our wish; hospital library link together by the Internet and give and take medical literature, fits this project. Journals holding list of hospital libraries throughout Japan have been entered in the host computer of the Foundation, and this system started as a Virtual Medical Library (VML) in April 1997 with thirty-six libraries joing. It is hoped that many hospitals will use the Internet and enter the VML soon as a means of improving hospital libraries.
