Fairing in place buckled shell plates of hull structure is often experienced in ship repairs. The project might seem simple, however, in general, the following two (2) important problems have been least considered. (1) Relation of extent of damage and possibilities of fairing in place affected plates. (2) Reliability of affected plate as a strength member of ship. The first item relates with space and applicable mechanical means of repairs, and second, physical and mechanical properties of affected plate. The purpose of this paper is to find experimental colutions to the above two (2) questions.
