Two versions of optical/digital hybrid image processing are described. The one version of hybrid image processing is carried out, using a high-speed digital image processing system alone in which an imaging system in a data acquisition system (TV camera system) plays an important role to make optical parallel image processing. Another version of hybrid image processing is implemented using an optical system centered on spatial light modulators. Both processing methods make good use of parallelism of light. To clarify features of hybrid image processing, some experimental results are demonstrated.
