The characteristics of the reconstructed image from the edge-illuminated reflection hologram recorded with a slit are analyzed. The hologram is suitable for a practical three-dimensional display because it takes such the advantages that it makes display system compact and that it also displays sharp deep reconstructed images when it is illuminated by a white-light source. The resolutions of the reconstructed image from the hologram are both numerically and experimentally evaluated. The experimental result on the resolution well agrees with the numerical result.
